andyvicarage Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 All the Haynes manuals I have see don't cover the 2003 Rover V.V.C engine. Have done the front timing belt, but is there a recommended proceedure for the rear belt? Suggestions or links appreciated. Many thanks
Stationary M25 Traveller Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 It is covered in an Elise manual I have. Quite straightforward. You can't beat a few spots of Tippex on belts and pulleys ! Will try and find the appropriate page for you.
Stationary M25 Traveller Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 ok - found it .... 26MB pdf document. Can you accept a doc this size ? Drop me a blatmail, so I get your address. Will see if I can compress it, or extract a page or two ! Ian
Stationary M25 Traveller Posted March 7, 2011 Posted March 7, 2011 You could see if this download includes the VVC ... try here Let me know if not, and I can mail you mine
Mankee Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 You can also try the K-series Overhaul Manual, located here, if it isn't the same one posted by SM25T. Go to page 100 and it gives the procedure for the rear belt.
Kevsta Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I made up a 'special tool' for locking the cams while I undo one of the cam pulleys. I always need another person to help me do this part of the job but always fairly quick. My special tool is a bit of bar with two bolts (M10 IIRC) appropriately spaced to hold the cams while the pulley bolt is loosened or tightened. Don't use the belt itself to carry the tension! Hope this helps Kev
Stationary M25 Traveller Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 I got a cam pulley holding tool from a car spares shop that holds the rear pulleys one at a time while you torque up the bolts. Basically a bar with two bolts in ... like the above !
Kevsta Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 Just to add, don't try to use the cam locking tool either - ever! Not designed for it - as aren't the teeth on the cam pulleys.
