This kind of stuff is best put out to a specialist audience, olive Naim is sought after at present and commands good prices, but only to specialists. They will want to know serial numbers and service history (tantalum caps don't last for ever and the afficionados want them replaced at the factory, with records, if you please). You should have a look at the Naim forum or PinkFishMedia where a lot of Naimies hang out and debate which type of factory supplied screw is best to secure the lid of their power supply. Good luck.

You are not entirely alone though, there are some of us here too *smile* I have 90/92/flatcap/Credos/LP12 and would love such a decent upgrade, but sadly funds do not allow.

Battered is right - put them on Pink Fish and I'm sure they will be well sought after there....

Definitely not alone - I have Naims in the living room AND the garage (OK, the garage one is only an old Nait).

Would also love this as an upgrade to the living room setup, also can't justify it.

I take it the preamp has a remote for the volume? I do rather miss one of those on my older kit.

Does the NAC have a phono board? I might have to empty the piggy bank if it has a MM board (I have a high output MC so don't think MC would do it unless you can set the input level).

Thanks

Hi Gavin.

The Nac82 is fitted with MM phono boards. I also run a high output moving coil cartridge.

The connectors on the rear of the NAC are BNC, for the phono section. Unless your arm cable has them fitted already, you'd need to source some adaptors. Saying that, I might have my old ones in the box.

Hope this helps.

Whoops.

Meant to add. Roger, the Nac does have a remote, which makes volume tweaking easy. Most of my listening is from vinyl, so you still have to get up every now and then, which somewhat defeats the object. *smile*

Despite what everybody says, the world is definitely Flat!

Probably no surprise, I'm using a Linn Sondek.

Moved the motor to the front left, 7 o'clock position though and housed the power supply in it's own box. Makes it a little different to the norm. *smile*
