Dutchy Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 My Superlight R has had some head work done, and Im wondering if the fuel pump will have enough capacity for the extra fuel flow. The injectors are the R500 type so they are ok, the fuel pump is original for a 98 SLR. Not sure what bhp until the remap but it should be 220+. Has anyone had any issues with the fuel pump when upgrading to higher Bhp? Thanks Steve
Grubbster Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 I upgraded to the JPE pump on mine Steve, at Rob Walkers recommendation. I guess you'll be able to see at the mapping session if there is any fuel starvation problem - but then you'd have to go for another after changing the pump if there was a problem.
Dutchy Posted March 6, 2011 Author Posted March 6, 2011 Hi Steve, I'm not sure what pump is in now, did they fit the JPE pump in the SLR VHPD anyway? If so I may be ok? Steve
Grubbster Posted March 6, 2011 Posted March 6, 2011 I doubt it was fitted as standard in the SLR Steve, but no easy way to find out without taking it out! The JPE one does sound a little different to the standard one but with my car in bits we can't even compare!
Support Team Shaun_E Posted March 7, 2011 Support Team Posted March 7, 2011 Steve - my 226bhp engine ran with the standard fuel pump but the injectors were close to 100% duty cycle at the top end - I don't know whether the limiting factor was the injectors or the pump. I have fitted the uprated pump for my upgraded engine (and bigger injectors).
