k.russell Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 does anyone have a car of this vintage they can measure shock absorber lengths. car is 92 HPC with lower shock mount through the centre fixing in the DeDion bar. sperical at both ends on the rear. front is wide track pre 96 so uses the same bolt for shock absorber and wishbone at the top, rear measurement needs to be with chassis supported and de dion at full droop(wheels off the ground) front with wheels of the ground. Thanks Kevin.
Mavic82 Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Kevin, I have just changed my rears to AVO units and ordered the 17" long ones. That holds the DD tube just off the chassis when in full droop. The 18" ones were to long and would be used for the under DD type mounting. Not sure of the original Caterham measurement I am affraid. I think the fronts are 13" but I would let others confirm as I have non standard RJ front wishbones. Cheers Guy
k.russell Posted March 6, 2011 Author Posted March 6, 2011 Thanks Guy, that tallies with what is on my car. the rear avo's measure 435mm approx.
