Forged Pistons type question.

Is it possible to tell if a K series has forged pistons without all the palaver of taking the head off and inspecting? I'm helping Paul Marriott's widow Carole get all the info together to sell his car, and the only question we have on the spec is related to forged pistons.

 

I was wondering if with the right bit of kit (you know the sort of thing they stick up your bum if you got rear end trouble) you could tell by looking at the piston crowns via the spark plug holes?

you can tell by the machining marks on the piston crowns and cutouts

A simple borescope should allow you to inspect the piston tops.

Cheers chaps, not sure that I'd recognise a forged piston of it was in my cornflakes, so how do you tell them apart from the normal ones?
