Area Representative finmac Posted February 25, 2011 Area Representative Posted February 25, 2011 Wondering whats the best over the shelf product to use to stick interior tunnel and rear bulkhead carpet down please?
MBB Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I used heavy duty carpet tape - available from your local DIY superstore Started with velcro but found it gave little benifit in terms of build for a much higher cost .
Drumster Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Have you considered using poppers? My 7 already had 'poppered' carpet when I bought it in 1999 and it seemed a good way of fixing the carpets, so much so that when I rebuilt the car some years ago and had all new panels I repeated the process. I've got to admit though that dealing with the poppers in the footwells was 'interesting'. Easy enough on the driver's side with the pedal box cover removed, but the passenger side was a 2 person job. The sole purpose of the 2nd person was simply to extract me from the footwell 😬
Stationary M25 Traveller Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Any carpet shop will sell you a spray adhesive. Spray a coat on panels and let it dry. Then repeat on panel and carpet and stick together.
Support Team c7trp Posted February 26, 2011 Support Team Posted February 26, 2011 They've arrived then 😬 (Hope they're OK?) I used double sided carpet tape from B&Q. Makes it easier to pull the carpet back to remove to get to top shocker bolts
Area Representative finmac Posted February 26, 2011 Author Area Representative Posted February 26, 2011 Hi Tim, yes arrived, they are spot on thanks. Shampoo'd them last night and they are ready to fit now! Think I will go down the double sided tape road, seems like the least hassle solution. cheers Finlay
DJ. Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I used self adhesive velcro 20mm wide by 5m long was £11.99 from C&H fabrics. I've had to remove a couple of bits and so far the velcro has separated easily letting me replace the carpet with minimal hassle Duncan Edited by - DJ. on 26 Feb 2011 14:43:55
