I used heavy duty carpet tape - available from your local DIY superstore

Started with velcro but found it gave little benifit in terms of build for a much higher cost .

Have you considered using poppers?

My 7 already had 'poppered' carpet when I bought it in 1999 and it seemed a good way of fixing the carpets, so much so that when I rebuilt the car some years ago and had all new panels I repeated the process. I've got to admit though that dealing with the poppers in the footwells was 'interesting'. Easy enough on the driver's side with the pedal box cover removed, but the passenger side was a 2 person job. The sole purpose of the 2nd person was simply to extract me from the footwell 😬

They've arrived then *thumbup* 😬 (Hope they're OK?)

I used double sided carpet tape from B&Q.

Makes it easier to pull the carpet back to remove to get to top shocker bolts

Hi Tim, yes arrived, they are spot on thanks. Shampoo'd them last night and they are ready to fit now!

Think I will go down the double sided tape road, seems like the least hassle solution.

cheers Finlay

I used self adhesive velcro 20mm wide by 5m long was £11.99 from C&H fabrics.

I've had to remove a couple of bits and so far the velcro has separated easily letting me replace the carpet with minimal hassle *smile*
