Alex Rae Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 I need a new screen. When fitting it do I need to drill holes for the door hinges. If so, am I likely to break another screen? TIA. ----- AJ02RAE Blythe to meet, Wae to part, Blythe to meet aince mair
Johnty Lyons Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 No all holes predrilled you can do a straight swop.
Alex Rae Posted August 15, 2010 Author Posted August 15, 2010 Magic. Thanks for the quick reply. Even I should manage a screen change. AJ02RAE Blythe to meet, Wae to part, Blythe to meet aince mair
myothercarsa2cv Posted August 15, 2010 Posted August 15, 2010 You can reuse the stanchions (the bits that hold the doors), it's 3 screws either side of the screen through said stanchions. Don't do them up too tight! Hardest bit will be the heated windscreen connections. John _________________________ myothercarsa2cv Bugsy: '82 2cv6 😬 Talloulah '08 1.6K Classic
ECR Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Having cracked the (unheated) glass in a friends screen, I am obliged to replace it. Whereas before you could just refit new glass, I am told that Caterham now only supply the glass in a frame at a cost of £315.00 + VAT. I wonder why ? ....
Roger Ford Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 It's still listed on their web site here. They're generally not keen to post it, though. You should be able to get it cheaper elsewhere, I pay £50 a time fitted from Ben Rockey at the Classic Car Workshop.
OliverSedlacek Posted August 16, 2010 Posted August 16, 2010 Caterham will supply the unheated glass on it's own, but the heater glass is only available in a frame ☹️
