Aitch42 Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Hi guys Just coming to the end of my build of a Roadsport SV150 and tried to start it this afternoon and dead as the proverbial dodo. I am guessing that I have the wiring to the started/solenoid wrong somehow as all the lights etc. work OK. On the cat I have the starter motor which has what I am assuming is the solenoid attached to it. In the manual it states to connect the Red positive from the battery and the black from the main wiring loom on the same terminal - which I have done. It then goes on and talks about connecting the brown lead from the alternator to the starter and the brown/red wire from the main loom to the starter solenoid - I am now confused! Has anybody out there built one of these recently and if so any chance of a photo/drawing of where the wires should go. Thanks in advance Howard
Aitch42 Posted August 12, 2010 Author Posted August 12, 2010 Stand down. A quick call to Sean at Caterham and it turns out that I wasn't waggling the immobiliser thing around enough and therefore it wasn't cutting out. So after a quick waggle the thing bust into life after the third attempt - not bad as the guys at Caterham reckon that the 150 engine doesnt always start first time as the carbs need setting up properly. Now just need to get the clutch working properly and I can get it moving - a little adjustment is needed I understand as is another bleed which is a real pain to get to. Thanks Howard
Frying Pan Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Great moment when it first bursts into life isn't it 😬 Don't understand your comment about carbs though? Guy See some pictures of the build here. 18,000 miles completed!
