chambomg Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 can anyone advise me if it would be better to get a quick rack for track days or stay standard. is it the 22% one I need. all the best Paul
Roger Ford Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Some people like them, some don't. It's by no means necessary. The vast majority of racers I know use the standard rack.
Archie Procter Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 agreed, don't bother. I don't even like the feel of it
Drumster Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Just to add some balance 😬. I swapped to a quick rack way back in Feb '03 and find it absolutely fine for trackdays, sprinting and touring. Chris Alston C7CAT 1800 Supersprint R248 ....and then I jumped in

chambomg Posted August 13, 2010 Author Posted August 13, 2010 coyoteracer11.why dont you like the feel of it ?,does it make the car twitchy,do you lose the feel of the front end?. all the best opaul
ashaughnessy Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I preferred my old standard (1987 vintage) rack on the road, much more civilised while the new rack is twitchy and oversensitive. However its good on track while the old rack was difficult on very tight hairpins as you needed too much movement to get round the hairpin. Anthony
Myles Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I love my quick-rack on the road - even on bumpy stuff, it's never a handful. 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 Alcester Racing 7s Ecosse™ 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 🙆🏻 Alcester-Racing-Sevens.com
The Village Idiot Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Marmite - 🥰 it 22% rack - 🥰 it On a serious note it all depends how you use/feel controls, to me I like everything as small amount of movement as possible, quick rack, race master cyclinder giving small brake peddle movement. There is no right and wrong here I think it is just how your body is calibrated. If it does larger movements then the normal rack/brake cylinder is just fine, if your body does small movements then that fine control is excellent. I spent years riding/training/competing/teaching on horses - the range of movement/body control was much finer/precise than what is required for the 7 so for me the quick rack is good - just depends how you brain is wired Dicks
