Things you shouldn't find in your sump

Following on from this thread I have managed to strip the x/flow down today with the help of Brent & Crudders.

 

Let's just say the findings were interesting.......

 

The contents of the sump pan and no. 4 piston can be seen here. Now you know why I said it sounded like a 'bag of nails', and yes that really is a piece of the camshaft!

 

Strangely enough, the cam followers (bits of), push rod and 'bit' of camshaft are all from no. 3 piston area, but the damaged skirt is from no. 4 piston .

 

Looks like the head, block, crank, and con rods and remaining pistons are all absolutely fine and there is absolutely no wear on any of the bores.

 

Ho hum......

 

Gotta go, I can hear the Zetec calling............. 😬
