juleslid Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Posted in case this is of some interest to fellow geeks out there: I built a 175 Roadsport over the winter and ran it in using the "Motoman" method on mineral oil, changed at 500 miles with more of the same then replaced at 1000 miles with normal Caterham oil (S/S 5W30). Just recently got round to doing something I'd always wanted to try, and put it on a reputable local rolling-road, at just under 1100 miles, now with a cat-bypass pipe. Results were peak power of 182.3 bhp at 7147 rpm and peak torque of 141.4 lb ft at 4065 rpm. I was quite pleased with those figures, as you can imagine, and was told that the gas analysis said the ECU was handling the fuelling well through the entire rev range. I'm just a bloke, don't know too much about the calibration, etc of this rolling road, other than it is supposed to take account of typical transmission losses and give a figure close to a flywheel figure. By the way, can recommend the place I went to highly, Mike at Mikeanics in Congleton, Cheshire. Jules
The Pikey Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 Jules It's nice to hear that a standard car is actually putting out what it should I'll read up on that oil Jason
