longhallage Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Sorry to go over old ground. I have just bought a 1999 superlight and need to change the rear pads soon. The fronts have the AP/Caterham big brake option and I have no idea what pads are on there but they have loads of life left in them. The rear brakes are standard. The pads are nearly spent and I can see the word 'Lucas' on one of them. Am I ok to use mintex 1144 on the rear if I'm not sure of the front material or should I go for standard mintex material. Thanks, Nick
Philip Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I'm no expert, but took advice from the chap at Performance Braking - he suggested that standard (delphi) pads are fine on the rear, given the combination of piston areas front and rear with the AP / Sierra caliper mix. I have never had a problem with them on road or track, but my brake balance seems to be OK. Dayglo Yellow / Carbon Superlight R No.29 (VHPD)
F355GTS Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Caterham do a slightly upgraded pad to go in the rear of a car fitted fitted AP fronts. here Mark
longhallage Posted July 28, 2010 Author Posted July 28, 2010 Thanks. They are quite reasonable too. Nick
