Stuart Miller 7
Following my outing to Castle Combe today my car is now broken! Just a JPE and me and lots of overtaking. I have a vibration under braking on my front drivers side wheel. This happens above 100mph and is worse under heavy braking from above 130mph. Had a similar problem last year but thought I'd fixed the problem - obviously havn't but I havn't driven at that speed since as only done the speed and hillclimb events. End result today was a fractured wing carrier and the whole lot parting company with the car! I have had the discs off and they are 2thou' drivers side and 6thou' nearside out of true so pretty much perfect (the lathe is calibrated to within 2thou' only) . The wheel balance is perfect, as are the bearings and everything else looks good. Anyone had a similar issue or any bright ideas as to where the problem might lie? Stationary M25 Traveller
Any dirt between disc and hub would cause run-out/vibration. Check spotlessly clean before refitting.
Mark Gregory
SM7 Have a read of this I would go for new discs which are only £15 or so. What pads are you using or is that a race secret? HTH, Mark

Stuart Miller 7
Bloody hell, you guys are trawling the archives!! What happened next was that I read the article that Mark gregory posted - very interesting so worth a read by the way. I skipped my old discs and pads and bought some new AP discs and pads (ouch!). I stripped the front end apart again and fitted the new gear. I took the car to Oulton park and bedded the brakes in as per the article above. Car transformed and never (touch wood) had an issue since. AP discs are sadly not £15 each. I run standard AP discs at the front with whatever the standard AP pads are. At the rear I run standard discs and pads. Stuart
