Team Escargot
Anyone have any experience/knowledge of fitting an aftermarket catalytic converter (such as Jetex – merlin motorsport) to a seven. As this seems about £200 cheaper than the pukka one from CC (R500 system currently 4 into 1 would have to cut the pipe to fit the Jetex) Nick
u01rsb
I fitted one to a busa engined Caterham for SVA. It passed emmisions, so good for me. You need to fit the right one for your power output and mine needed to be welded in place. They do either 200 or 100 cells per area, the 200 per area one obviously has better catalytic properties and the 100 cell one is less restrictive. Speak to Jetex and ask if the 100 cell one would be sufficient for your application. If you do a search I've put a link on previous posts of how cats work. Stationary M25 Traveller
I got PowerSpeed to fit one inside the 7" dia silencer when I replaced my system recently. They can fit cats to all sorts and shapes of systems. Much better looking than the ugly 2-part original system.
Racing Snake
Hi Nick Yes I fitted a 100 cell FIA Jetex cat earlier this year Brilliant product and if mounted in the correct position ie as far from the engine as possible you loose hardly any BHP And a fraction of the cost of a CC cat Mad Hatter Racing - Feel The Duralight R Torque 😬 Carl Van Baars
