MikeW
Got my car 12 days ago and everything seems to be coming together- medical today, ARDS Saturday, trackday Oulton 31 st, helmet etc on it's way, pick up car after a race service Friday and should be signing up for the Grads race series in the next few days. Had hoped to be racing at Angelsey 10/11 August ( assume 10 th is a practise day)BUT just realised I won't get back from a business trip in the USA until morning of Saturday the 10 th- I'm trying to figure out how to get back sooner but not hopeful. So has anybody had experience of the track- am I going to be wasting my time if I can't make it to the pracise day. Is it an easy track to get used to and would it be good experience anyway? Gary Furst
The Anglesey circuit is only just over 1 mile long, its narrowish and certaily more technical than the likes of Mallory, but it is pretty easy to learn. As the circuit is so short the time difference between pole position and the back of the grid will be small, so the racing should be close throughout your 15 lap? race. There is not a lot of room on the track so you don't want things to get too fraught or it could very rapidly get messy. For more opinions on the track get in touch with Richard Ince, Jules Martin or Jason Krebs who were all there last weekend (as I was) in the Jaguar Car Club Centurian Challenge. Red SLR
A lot of people say its an easy track, I disagree - I find it very tight, there is only one real line, no space for any heroics. I take it will be a sprint??? X777CAT
Graeme Smith
Mike, There's a test session at Anglesey on the Friday before the race weekend. Although its a tricky little circuit, there's no reason you shouldn't just turn up and race on the Saturday if you can rejig your flights. Or phone the circuit and find out if there's any test/track days between now and the race (I'd think there would be...). Qualifying is usually 15 minutes which will give you about 15 laps - you should have some idea which way the track goes after that. A number of Graduates rarely/never test before a race - just turn up and learn it in qualifying. If you want some advice on how to drive the circuit, e-mail me off line. (I was second fastest qualifier there last year and missed the lap record by 1/100th second). Graeme

Graeme Smith
53.74 - Graduates lap record, that is. Nowhere near the stunning outright lap record at the weekend. Hope that that gets the coverage in the motorsport comics it deserves. (I suppose the old one was right for the taking, especially with reprofiling the last corner this year). Isn't Cadwell lap record still held by a kart - another one right for the picking? Got a idea of another outright lap record to take, but was keeping it to myself in case I ever had the chance in a suitable car...
Richard Ince
I have looked at Cadwell but 1.23.4 set in 1982 by a F3 car is too quick for a SR3. The SR3 will only be able to lap in the high 25's. My best R500 lap was a high 33.
Graeme Smith
Perhaps its the Club circuit lap record at Cadwell which was set by a kart. You intending to go around mopping up lap records, RIchard? teeth.gif Edited by - Graeme Smith on 17 Jul 2002 08:18:
Richard Ince
Graeme Club record is 57.40 in a Kart. It would be rude not to try at Cadwell! I did manage to break the 750MC Caterham Class A record at Cadwell last year. However this year without a screen and Super Soft A032's it has probably been broken already.
