shark attack
According to Autosport online: "The Arrows team's cars finally made it to Silverstone on Thursday evening, in time to be scrutineered before Friday practice. "At 1845, one of the A23s was spotted being pushed down the pitlane for scrutineering - but that is still no guarantee that Arrows will particpate in the British Grand Prix. "The team missed scrutineering at 1600 on Thursday, but won an extension until 1000 Friday. But having met the new deadline, team boss Tom Walkinshaw must now find the money to pay his debts to engine supplier Cosworth. Earlier today, Niki Lauda said that Arrows must pay up before tomorrow's practice session if the cars are to run this weekend. "The battle to keep Arrows afloat in Grand Prix racing will rage on tomorrow." I wouldn't want to be Walkinshaw's PA this weekend...

shark attack
Although Arrows are at Silverstone, they didn't run in this morning's practice session - it seems that the cars won't be allowed on the circuit until they've paid up, though T.W. did have a meeting with Bernie this morning - what the outcome of that is, no-one seems to know, but maybe Bernie will let them run anyway...? mark4newman
Well, If he doesn't run, he has to pay $300,000 per car I think as a fine! M100EOW....

john aston
Another example of the sainted Walkinshaw's reverse midas effect.
shark attack
Courtesy of Autosport... Arrows boss Tom Walkinshaw is believed to be planning a deal to sell Arrows' rights to its F1 revenues to Red Bull energy drink boss and current sponsor Dieter Mateschitz, who wants to set-up an 'All-American' grand prix team. F355GTS
The cars were scruiteneered at 8am this morning and are in the garage but didn't run in 1st practice. They have to run in qualifying tomorrow to avoid the fine, apparently they are still not able to run due to lack of engines or lack of being allowed to use engines by Cosworth Mark
The_ASH
Apparently Cosworth confiscated/removed engine management equipment from the car and are holding onto it until such time as payment occurs. Rumours abound of a figure of £3.5million in unpaid bills..... the end ? who knows ? I do hope not though as it will add fuel to the increasing threat of 3 car teams in the coming seasons what with Minardi near the brink as well etc etc etc. Ashley Webster. 1400 Supersport
Bangers quotNquot Mas1697456953
I was at Silverstone today. What amazes me is Arrows seemed to have plenty of cash for the hospitality/promotions bull****!!!!!! Maybe it's a case of running before they could walk???? Best bit of the day was seeing Schuey sit in the rain for an hour after spinning out on the first lap of the first session!!!! Flying kiwi
Agree with Beagle on the issue of Promotional stands, what a waste of money!!!, Not to mention the team coaches etc, i too was at Silverstone today and all i will say is I`m glad i didn1t have to pay for the entrance ticket. [ IMHO, it is far better to view F1 on television]. As for Arrows and the rest of the lower order teams, I`m afraid it will be onbly a matter of time before we see 3 maybe 4 F1 teams. Too much money wasted on bull...t. Kiwi

Alex Wong1697456877
Doesn't Niki Lauda pull the strings at Cosworth? Mighty embarassing that his engine customers are beating his Jaguars.... Best turn the screws on them I think. Lauda on Walkinshaw - "I get on very well with him. There is no question, he is a survivor and a fighter...normally, he always survives but it looks pretty close at the moment. I want him to race but I cannot pay for his racing because I will get fired if I do this." Convienient excuse. Bob Corb
I was driving home thru Towcester last night and noticed a lot of people carriers with F1 team logos emblazed across them (Mostly Jaguar marked Galaxies sitting outside pubs). The only Orange sponsored vehicle was a Merc ML (outside the Chinese takeaway!! Cheapskates) and across the back window in large letters was the word "Goodbye". What are they saying!!!?? Have they given up already? BC
Bangers quotNquot Mas1697456953
I thought the idea of sponsorship was media exposure in promoting your company as a "winning force" not getting pissed in a tent!!! Thinking again though, Orange probably met their match with arrows........ Andy Marks andy@metrol.com
