if you haven't considered going on the friday, it's the only day to go, with thin crowds and all the action..... a fantastic day guaranteed. go on.. you owe it to yourself !

Absolutely agree about Friday being the best. I'll be going across country to Petworth and then over Duncton - absolutely the best place for overtaking! Might see you en route or whatever - mines very old , yellow - ali with of course flared wings because the unmentionables hadn't been invented then - Reg NFS 7G.

I hope that those of you who are going (I'll be there on the Saturday) will pop along to the GPL (Gran Prix Legends) stall. A bunch of guys on a GPL forum have organised a stand to show off what a fully patched up version looks like, in an attempt to drum up interest amongst petrolheads so Papyrus do a new version. If you've never played GPL, expect to come away really wanting a tricked out PC and a force feedback wheel.

From Caterham and Brockham, you'll probably end up on the A24 and then going into Petworth on the A272. Petworth will be pretty busy and so we could meet on the A285 just South of Petworth, at, say Coultershaw Bridge and then go over the Downs in convoy. Alternatively, if anyone wants a slight detour, I would be happy for people to meet up at my place, which is off the A281 South of Guildford for coffee, brandy and other stimulants and we could take it from there.

I am one of the lucky winners of the Classic Car magazine competition for a seat at the dinner on thursday and ticket for friday. I shall look out for you. Unfortunately, I am flying, not driving. How will we recognise each other?

Hi, I shall be going on the Friday as well but travelling from Hertfordshire.

Whats the parking like at Goodwood? My ticket says Gate 1 with a big G. Is it likely to be a muddy field? Will we all perhaps be able to park near each other (security in numbers)?

Sounds good - certainly don't want to leave it any later because the queue starts to build up even on Friday. And the longer you leave it, the further you have to walk! Late breakfast in the paddock.

Si - last time, the field was large, flat and seemed well drained. I asked hte Lotus club this year about special parking for interesting cars but there doesn't seem to be any.

unfortunately, i don't have a map on me, so i can't see what route i would take. even if you do not plan to go on a run from caterham, it would be fantastic to be able to meet up somewhere so that we could all park together.

Hi Septimus

Looking at Shamley Green heading south, how about the main street in Billingshurst as an easy to find compromise? Can't find Molecombe on any map, ancient or modern.

0815 to make it easier on both of us.

My mobile is 07836 271429 if i remember to switch it on or can feel it vibrating. Look forward to seeing you and young Septimus.

cheers/Rod

so i'm assuming then that no one is interested in coming from caterham... i'll print out this thread and have a look at a map to see if i can hook up in billingshurst too, presuming that is the meeting point now.

although i know the difficulty with getting the lad out of bed.. i'm just worried that by 0830 - 0900 the traffic jams will have set in.. and contrary to my acronym, i am not jam mad. wink.gif

I'm not able to go to Goodwood, however you really should make sure that your drive down takes in the run via Haslemere & Midhurst (A286 I think). Its a super stretch of road - at its best very early in the morning and followed by bacon sandwiches eaten to the tune of F1 engines warming up before proceedings begin.

Great - see you then. Maybe also Noger, Jam Mad, Geoff and a few others.

Rod

PS - That's weird. My posting didn't go to the top. Any ideas why not?
