Parceline, cr*p service.

I ordered some bits from Caterham, online, midday Wednesday. Much to my surprise Parceline tried to deliver them Friday whilst I was at work. I rang Parceline to book the redelivery and organised to have someone at home - with Parceline you choose the day, I chose Monday, they choose the time. By 3pm I am starting to get concerned - no delivery, so ring Parceline. Cock-up at the depot, not going to be delivered on the day I had booked. Requested that a new delivery address, in the same area, be used as I couldn't have someone sitting at home to no purpose a second day. Parceline refused to change the delivery address, even though it was their cock-up, without the senders authority. So had to ring Caterhams to get them to authorise delivery to a new address. Suggested that Caterhams consider a new carrier, suggest that it you order bits from Caterham you request any carrier except Parceline. Have just rung to confirm that delivery is due for today and confirm the address - wrong address given for delivery until I prompted them for the correct one. Have no faith that delivery will take place without more aggro from Parceline. If ther is another posting it will be because they got it wrong - again!!

Don't get me started on carriers!

If you think Parceline are bad, try Nightfreight, Interlink, Tuffnells etc. in fact just about all of them offer the WORST service I have ever encountered in business. Part of the trouble is the old saying:- "If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys" and, my god, that is true with all carriers I have had the displeasure to deal with.

Actually, having said all that, I don't find Parceline too bad. The quality of service depends very much on quality of management at your local depot. Another reasonable carrier, whom we use regularly, is Initial Citylink but like I said, depends on the local management.

Nightfright, however, are just plain awful whichever depot is used.

JMHO

Rant over!

Interseting, my business has used TNT, Business Post, Amtrak and all were hopeless, Business Post scoring the award for the most parcels lost or stolen. We changed to Citylink over a year ago and they have been brilliant.

To quote Brent - don't even get me started!

Ordered parts from Caterham on Thursday, PAYED for next day delivery (to make sure, so I could use parts at weekend)

Delivery at work. Never turned up. Spoke to (different person each time, who therefore did not have a clue what I was on about) depots around London, was told they would deliver on Saturday "morning, as we all want to watch the football" (about 2 weeks ago this) obviously did not turn up, local depot no idea what I was on about, rang Monday - " Yes we have lost them, ooh, no , we have found them" got parts the next Wednesday. Tw*ts

TNT from Caterham. So who do I ask for a refund from? (fat chance I expect)

It is now 18:35 day two and still no parcel. Been shunted from depot to depot. So much for being ready to receive the delivery from 08:30 onwards, my parcel didn't leave the depot until 09:21!!

  • 1 year later...

Now, I am usually a calm man but...

Aaaarrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! F!"£$%$£ng PARCELINE.

Am expecting some areos from Caterham. Whilst the wife and I are out at work I get a note through the door. This note even has a box saying "we will call again on the next working day YES/NO" and of course NO is circled. Parceline don't leave stuff with neighbours or on your door. For this to happen you have to write to them!

Anyhow....I saw that you can arrange to have the parcel redelivered on a day you specify on T'internet(unless you pay through the nose). I dutifully do this on a day my wife is at home. I even get a reference number. It was today. 5.30pm nothing. I ring the automated line and have to key the premium service to actually speak to a human. First, of course, I got cut off. Me though , I'm good. I took his name, and rang back. Eventually we discovered that it was sitting in a depot at Rushden. It will be delivered tommorrow..........

Once more..Arghhhhhhgggghhhhhggghghghhgghhhhghgghhjgfkuguwo8fv3q9pv4!

Thats better, rant over.

Please continue with what you were doing.

I can't resist joining in. Ordered a roll top cover for the truck, and I won't bore you with the whole story, but in the end I told the supplier to get it sent back to them in Essex and I will go and collect it myself. Wasn't the supplier's fault - they have been very good, but they also said they have tried 8 courier 'services', and they have all been terrible.

What is it in this country about delivery services. 10 years ago I used to live in Connecticut, and the delivery services were brilliant. They would arrive when they said they would, if you knew you wouldn't be there, they would take telephone authority to leave it on your doorstep, and would do what you asked. If it had to be returned, you just left it on the doorstep and they would come and get it. It all worked wonderfully - why can't it do so here 🤔 *mad* *mad* *mad*

I think most of these so called carriers are absolutely cr*p.

however, just recently a new supplier I use employs UPS and I have to say, so far, (fingers crossed) they seem pretty good.

however, in the past it has always amazed me how universally poor they all are. Surely a good one could clean up?

Had the same problem with bits from Caterham - gave up in the end and pick everything up from Ratrace (although it's a good thirty miles away).

Despite my pointing out to Caterham that MY "next day" delivery contract is with Caterham and not the courier (TNT), they just couldn't have cared less *mad* and simply wouldn't countenance any form of recompense *mad*

(In my experience UPS are far and away the best couriers, closely followed by CityLink).

*eek* That's your company car !?! *eek*

I have the same trouble with Parcelfarce. They have improved their act lately (ie good parcel tracking etc) but they still won't leave things with neighbours or deliver to me on a Saturday, so I end up having a 30 mile round trip to their depot to pick parcels up *mad*. They won't leave things at the post office (same organisation don't forget) due to some minor local dispute that has gone on for years.

If it's a guaranteed delivery then compensation should apply; it's doubtful if this would be sufficient for the typical Cat owner whose hourly rate probably exceeds the weekly pay of the average Mankyunian *tongue*

The Royal Mail appears to operate next day Special Delivery as a form of lottery, failure rate = 20%(?).

Royal Mail Special delivery has a quality of service of 99.1% It’s a VERY good service, the best in the industry!
My recent market survey reveals a 40% failure rate: sent 5, 2 arrived late ... so the sample size is perhaps a bit small but I've allowed for that by using the statistically valid method of halving the experimental failure rate *tongue*

Fortunately, I was sent 12 first class stamps as compensation .. so that's OK then. I will register a claim with the GPO after I have dealt with Equitable Life *wink* *tongue*

can only add to the tales of woe.....had a complete pain in the a55 experience with Parceline a while ago - will never use them again or order anything from a company that only uses them (if only to keep my sanity!)

ouch! !
