Nick Woods
And I've only actually driven it for 6 weeks due to holidays. Before anyone says I'm not driving it hard enough, its a 1.6K supersport and its had a mixture of hard blasts around Norfolk and more sedate driving to work and when my wife is in it, so I'm very pleased with the fuel consumption. (I had a tidyup and found all the fuel receipts so I thought I'd work it out) Its not been entirely trouble-free but then I wasnt expecting it to be and judging from the archives here there's nothing wrong with mine that isnt wrong with lots of others as well. I just wish I'd bought one years ago. teeth.gifteeth.gifteeth.gifteeth.gifteeth.gifteeth.gifteeth.gifteeth.gifteeth.gifteeth.gifteeth.gifteeth.gifteeth.gifteeth.gif Nick P8MRA - The greenid=green> one with redid=red> wings Edited by - Nick Woods on 30 Jun 2002 21:32:
John Reay
Good for you Nick, Nice to hear that it is being used and not sitting in tha garage as an expensive ornament. Keep on trucking!! John
tiptree
36 mpg!?! How do you do that then? 3,000 miles on mine, 1.4 SS, maybe 22 mpg, maybe not! AO32's won't last 3,000 either! Tomorrow's a good day for it!
Nick Woods
John, thanks ! Tiptree, I dont know really although I thought K's were supposed to be in the 30mpg area. I do drive it briskly most of the time, and use the red line when I get the opportunity although I dont drive it hard all the while. I guess it may just be that a lot of the time I'm driving at 'normal' speeds in 4th or 5th because of traffic or road conditions and although the aerodynamics are poor I dont go over 70 for a huge amount of the time. My drive to work (when I go the direct route...) is only 4 miles so theres no chance of a blast because it hasnt warmed up properly. My wife doesnt like going fast either, which probably helps although its offset by all the joyrides i'm doing at work at the moment smile.gif Maybe the extra torque of the 1.6 over the 1.4 helps as well because possibly it doesnt have to be worked quite so hard (never driven a 1.4 so I dont really know) Nick P8MRA - The greenid=green> one with redid=red> wings Edited by - Nick Woods on 30 Jun 2002 21:43:37 Edited by - Nick Woods on 30 Jun 2002 21:45:
deeps
I've always thought the fuel consumption figures for the K series applied only to 5 speed cars in touring mode. Who cares anyway, just enjoy it as you seem to be doingsmile.gif Edited by - deeps on 30 Jun 2002 21:46:
Alex Birtwisle
I have managed a smidge over 40mpg from my 1.8 (not ss though) on a run from Devon to Kent.... Alex

Nick Woods
The mpg is just a bonus really, its great that I can drive the car as often as I want and not have to worry about the fuel - its at work today even though its been raining and looks like it will again soon. I'd rather get a bit wet than use the tintop. Nick P8MRA - The greenid=green> one with redid=red> wings
Budjuggler
I got worried about mpg in a 1.6SS K but then did a long distance trip to France and even driving briskly was getting over 30. At home, however, it must be closer to 20.
