Your help is needed........Free the Telford 7!

My Caterham club AO has actually wheeled his car out of it's garage and into daylight today.

Pig's were seen flying over Telford...

The car itself thought it was being stolen!

The tyres have a square edge...

Fiona (long suffering wife) thought he was having a nervous breakdown....apparantly he even located the keys!blush.gif

...and whyquestion.gif

Because it is the FIRST time this year his 40th anniversary has left the garage to actually go somewhere!

However, what was so funny/sad for the car, possibly even cruel, was that it was a false alarm as Clive Kenrick now can't do his MOT (!) as he is going to Prescott.

So the poor car is going back inside for yet another period of incarcerationsad.gif

I think a national 'Free the Telford 7' campaign should commence in much the same as vein as for the Guildford lot.

Surely a Seven deserves some freedom.

Please add your name to this list with possibly some form of argument for Mr Morris to consider so that pressure to release said car can be brought to bear.smile.gif

.........I'm sure I heard right at Curborough when the aforesaid L7Club member mentioned that he'd like to have a go at sprinting! Surely he couldn't have meant this to take place in his lovely (polished underneath) Anniversary No2 car??!! eek.gif

Mr Morris wandered over and examined the side of my car where I'd slapped it sideways into a big cone at MIRA, so I'm sure sprinting could surely not be on the agenda now! biggrin.gif

Mind you - I wish my two year old car looked like that! But on the other hand I've done 10,000 very enjoyable miles in those two years and about 15 sprints/hillclimbs.

Come on Rob, collar Mr Kenrick soon and let's see it at the next meeting! wink.gif The longest day has already passed us by!!

Come on Rob, get it out!!

I might be going home to see my parents tomorrow, depending on how long I'm at Hyperion getting one or two chores done (and whether it leaves me sufficient monies to put the fuel in the tank).

A quick blat around the Wrekin would be fun.

Nifty.

You know the problem with you Shropshire boys is your too close to the Welsh.blush.gif

Rob! I've seen, nay *followed*, you in your seven on many occaisions - are you getting old or something! smile.gif

And you live in telford remember - the world capital of roundabouts - perfect for blatting!

Note - IMHO Telford is WAY better than milton-keynes for this as all the roundabouts are different.

Captain Chaos - do I know you at all - I used to live 15 miles from telford and have attended many of the area meetings there.

Hoopy,

We've met a couple of times at the meetings. I think the last time was just before your move south.

Even Rob admitted that his headlights were squinting as the car came out into the sun!

Ken,

Your not joking when you mention the fact that it is polished underneath!

Thank you all for the kind words (pis* take)! Normally it would have been on the road months ago, however, I seem to have spent a lot of time working on a friends Seven (Mr Chaos) neglecting my own. The other reason is that I've also returned to two wheels which after a 14 year lapse is seeing me like a boy in a candy shop! Even Chaos has seen this toy out playing.

Ken, first surprise for all is that my car has actually covered 8,500miles and has seen its fair share of rain!

Hoopy, Like the comment about following my Vx in your K, sadly by the sounds of your engine & re-build plans the positions will soon change.

Niffty, following LeMans I decided that it's got to leave the garage this year. So all the winters tasks were completed (even greassed the prop shaft), MOT booked, Tax form filled out for July 1st and then the phone call saying I'd have to put it back by a week due to clive racing. If you have time at your parents give us a call for a visit (01952) 242786

Now I'm depresed! At least it will be ready for our Oulton Trackday on 31st July. Quick product placement / advert called for!

Be there if you want to see the cleanest Vx alive!

Again, thanks to all I'm certainly wearing a grin!

Rob,

Credit where it's due you have spent some time helping me with my car.Thank you. (Don't forget the Master Cylinder!)

Good point about Hoopy's car.

Does this mean you will be taking the Vx on the circuit at Oulton? I'd love to see that! Next we'll be hearing that Jez is coming to the Ring later this year. In fact let's hope the Ring is still there after reading Ince's posting. Looks like there won't be a lot of it left after the Wheeltorque lot have been bashing it up!

Still, if they need track time they can always join the Slipstream day (open pit-lane) at Oulton as I think the club day is now full up.

Just out of interest how many 7s are there in Telford - I've only seen about 3 around (Discounting the 6 or so that turned up to the meeting at Bratton the other day)

Last count from Club indicated that there are 14 Caterhams in Shropshire. This was a couple of years ago so I would anticipate latest figure to be in the region of 20 max.

Providing you continue to keep coming (more than welcome) you'll notice our area is a bit of a "flying circus" As we have Westfields, Fishers, Jesters, GTM's, Vinidcators, Elise, the odd passing Cobra and now a Tiger in the pack.

Things get very exciting when Hoppy's Dad comes along with one of his toys, then again Chaos is gaining a bit of a collection!

Rob,

Sorry I didn't see your posting until this afternoon (back in Norfolk). I made it a flying visit so no time for blatting I'm afraid.

I will be home again for the week leading up to Curborough in August so perhaps I'll catch up then. Could possible blat to Curborough with you and any others from Telford area. Could meet on the A5 or A41 somewhere (Weston Park or Newport?) depending which way you propose to go.

A5 is dead now with all the roadworks and cameras!! A long route around incorporating the A518 might be more appealling, ducking down towards Lichfield.

Nifty.

Hi Ian

Which car were you in Ian and were you one of the couple that turned up late.

That would be Nick Aldridge and myself in the yellow cycle winged HPC's on a trip over from Newcastle. Neil Scott was also with us (as well as my wife!) and he's got a 1600 Sprint as well that probably has the same reaction to sunlight as Rob's car [:O]teeth.gif... hopefully this one is about to join the masses again by coming on the road soon too!

Good to see people and expect to make it over more often now that I know where you guys are... smile.gif You can always come over to our neck of the woods for the meeting at the Swan in Wybunbury second wednesday in the month (next one's the 10th July)

Cheers

Nick

Hi CC,

Its about 30 miles from Telford to Wybunbury on excellent & v.fast A roads. Shouldn't take too long then...

Not sure which way you want to come up but if you get onto the A51 towards Nantwich and go past Pipe Gate, Woore and Bridgmere Gardens for a few miles, you get to Walgherton (only a tiny village). Turn right at the Boars Head (i think?) pub onto the B5071 to Crewe and Wybunbury and head for the church in the centre of the village. The Swan is right alongside the church.

See you there on the 10th then!

Cheers

Nick

This lapsed Shropshire group memeber is currently very happy - the chassis is now in the paintshop and i have a man to collect it from there on Friday (and all the parts i've ordered from Caterham) and deliver it all to Miraz's garage. So saturday i can start the build with about 10 sevening mates who've volunteered smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif

Hi CC,

I can't make it over to Oulton this Friday due to new work commitments but I know that Andy Griffiths and Richard Price are expecting to go, not sure about any of the others but its certainly in our neck of the woods.

IanR,

Sunny in Telford!!! Its tipping it down over here in Newcastle and I was all set for a decent blat around when I got back from work... Bugger! sad.gif

Cheers

Nick
