Arnie,

Play the charity card and see if you can sell it on CD for NTL.tongue.gif

I downloaded one of your 2001 videos the other day and that took 1 hr 20 mins and was only 15 Mb so I'm sure as hell not going to attempt 97. I'll just have to go on the stories I heard!!wink.gif

Nifty.

(never know if Mother's logged on!!)

Perhaps we should split the proceeds between NTL and buying that poor girl some more clothes, she must be frozen smile.gif

Those of you who want to warm her up please form a queue outside my tent.

When you say "clean" are you refering to the quality of the images or the content smile.gif

Either way Leukemia isn't fussy and neither is research into erradicating it. Money is money so let's say £10 per CD.

How much video time can be fitted onto a CD ?

Simon,

My email is functioning 100%!!!!

All,

Run MS Media Player ver 7 and set the options for "enable automatic codec download". Then it'll download the mpeg2 codec.

All the clips are mpeg2 - the small ones have a bitrate of 1000kb/s, the big ones 4000kb/s.

Arnie, I think the problem lies elsewhere. I have the latest Media Player version (build no 8.00.00.4477). It tries to find the relevant codec for download, yet never gets any further than sending a request.

An error message reads:

Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The file may be formatted with an unsupported codec, or the Internet security setting on your computer is set too high. Lower your browser's security setting and then try again.

I've tried lowering my security settings in IE but it has no effect.

I havn't been able to play the files with Real Player either. This simply returns a 'General Error.' I have build 6.0.9.450 of Real Player.

Video's on the K2 RUM page havn't given me any trouble. I suspect it may be something to do with my OS (XP, packaged with the PC).

I am using Media Player version 7.01.00.3055

You should download and save the video file before trying to play it - even with Broadband these files are much too large for the available bandwidth on my server!

(to do this hover over the file, click right muse button and do a "save file as" to the location of your choice.)

In this instance media player uses the "Ligos MPEG Video Decoder" as the codec to play these files.

Try the above first and look at the clip properties through media player to identify the codec in use. Remember to set Media Player to "enable automatic codec download" and have a live connetion to the web at the time you open the clip.

Incidentley, the other K2RUM files which have been on the web for a long time are MPEG1 which is why they work OK. All these new files are MPEG2.

The files I've tried to play have been downloaded prior to use.

The problem lies in my copy of media player not being able to download the codec. There is a live connection when I try to play, and my copy of media player has 'download codecs automatically' checked.

I've remedied the problem by downloading and installing the codec manually. I don't know if this will be a permanent solution as I have only found a demo copy of Ligos' player, although it has codecs included that have allowed my to play the file on Media Player... I havn't yet used the Ligos player; put it that way.

If anyone else wants to go down this route the file can be downloaded here.

WMP can't find that codec itself. Go to www.ligo.com and download the 'LSX-MPEG Player 3.5 Demo' and install it. WMP will then work with these mpegs.

[whoops, beaten to it by post above]

Arnie, are your servers powered by AOL?? i can't get better than 3Kbs download. Even with 500Kbs broadband. Is there a good time to hit the servers? Or could it just be that soooo many of you are after that rather large file?
