MikeW
I need to fit a towbar to the car for a Brian James trailer. Has anybody any suggestions ideally reasonably local ( or a national with a local service) that could do this at a sensible price. My first port of call had been the Jaguar dealer but I was quoted just over £1k for supply and fitting. I thought he was joking and asked him to double check.....he wasn't. Nifty
Any decent motor engineer should be able to fit and wire it. I'm sure that there must be a cheaper source of suitable hitch.

Howard Dawson
They are not local to you but I have lots of good experience with the following company based at Potters Bar & Hatfield, just north of London. In the past they have done me tow bars for two Discoveries and a BMW. GT Towing Call Paul Thorgood on 01707 262875. If nothing else, they could quote you a price. Hibster.
I had the tow bar fitted to my wife's car at GT Towing in Welham green (nr Hatfield) so I could get the Seven to the licencing office (pre-SVA) and for its post build check (and as it turned out rebuild). I paid just over £250 for a fitted tow bar with single socket electrics. I think that something like type approval has crept into tow bars recently, didn't someone like PC say that they couldn't get an approved tow bar for a Type R? X7 CAT
Word of warning - I went to get a towbar fitted to the wife's BMW 5 series (auto) and was quoted just over 1K . . . managed to find somewhere willing to do it for £150 BUT, then a mate told me of the repair bill from BMW for his wiring (due to interference with rear parking sensors) and auto box as it hadn't been modified and was over-heating. I ended-up buying a V Class Merc bus . . . take professional advice before getting the towbar fitted. Steve

Violet Elizabeth
My 4WD is in for a tow bar at the moment with Indespension. £200 against over £400 from honda. They are a national chain with a good reputation. You may be lucky and find one close. Website here.
John Hughes
Johnny Boy - Try Witter on Deeside industrial estate - they are in most yellow pages and seem to have a good coverage of agents. Their "bars" are Type approved. John
Paul Richards.
Johnny Boy If North Manchester is OK. Try Peter Bowman Towbar Centre in Bury. 0161 797 3000. Can recommend. Have used them several times for tow brackets. If you book they will fit on Saturday am. They also hire trailers. If South Manchester is better, I know there is a Mechanical Servies (Indespension Depot) in Altrinchiam (Broadheath I think). Never used them however so can't personally recommend. Paul R.
