Julian Thompson
Not sure if this is tech / chat? But anyway - is there anything in SVA that prevents you from removing the ignition key switch and replacing it with a toggle switch?
Johnny Boy
Not 100% sure but I know one of the BEC guys I have come into contact with waitied until after his SVA to fit a starter button in place of a key for this very reason. There is a DoT website with full SVA regs on somewhere...?
Julian Thompson
Ta - I'll have a look for it. Can't see why I shouldn't because the "ignition key" and barrel does no more than switch TWO wires open and closed!!!! - other than its obvious function of removing your kneecaps in an accident, of course... New Barbie
I removed the key switch on my car and passed SVA without comment. You do need an immobiliser to pass SVA iirc. My car starting procedure is a blipper and then toggle switch and push button starter. Makes the whole process much more of an event and impresses passengers.
