Nick Woods
miss mav, what did Snapper do exactly ? Was it a case of you not beang able to fit in / reach everything etc ? I'd like my wife to be able to drive my car but she cant reach the pedals at the moment. Mrs Mav
Ooh that would be telling!.gif Oh ok then, When we went to Stoneleigh we were chatting to Snapper (Jamie) about the fact that i can drive the SV as i am about 5'3" and Mav is about 6'3"ish so pedals etc are set for Martin. I can't reach the pedals even with the car seat all the way forward so Snapper mentioned his very technical and extremly expensive device he uses for his partner who had the same trouble and now she can drive about in the seven. It is so simple and takes very little time to prepare and install and it is easily removed if you wish to drive instead of your wife or vice versa. Just get a pillow and put it behind her in the driving seat then get her to move the seat forward until she can reach the pedals comfortably. If one pillow is not enough simply get another and another until she is comfortable. I took two pillows but we flattened them a little as it was a bit to much. Once you have the quantity right you then put the pillows in to a bin bag or liner of some sort. Then the exciting part!.gif You get lots of gaffer tape and cover the bin bag/pillow combination until completely covered. It is then pretty much finished, weather proof (even if you are not!). It is quite comfortable and with it being virtually the same colour as the seat it blends in quite nicely. It is such a simple idea and had thought about trying something similar before but not such where to start so Snapper's advice was and is very very much appreciated. It's made my day, but i'm not sure about Martin though. Best wishes Viv P.S I hope you get sorted soon P.P.S I couldn't possibly wear platforms!.gif I might get virtigo or something at such heights. I am not used to heightsteeth.gif
No Nuts
Viv This is interesting. How close to the steering wheel do you end up sitting? I've tried this with Cheryl but she ends up with her chest teeth.gif about two inches from the steering wheel. NN blush.gif Lotus @ Herts

mav
Guy, We will take the booster cushion with us at the weekend, and you can see for yourself. You travelling up on Friday? If so, where will you be staying? Drop me a line. Best regards, Martin

Mrs Mav
You can see the device (or as Martin said the cushion) at the weekend, but i sit about 8 to 10" away from the wheel, mabe further away! But atleast i can drive it reasonably comfortably, i just need to develop some confidence in the driving seat. I am so used to being the passanger so it's quite daunting being in the driving seat. Next time i get chance to take part in a track day i think i will get an instructors advice although Martin is great at instructing. It is nice to have a different person in the car with you instead of your partner every now and then isn't it!?

dino ferrana
Wheel close is a good racing position. See how close the touring car boys get. THis is especially good for the ladies (no offence) due to the fairly physical nature of driving the car. Good to see ladies on the track!

Nick Woods
Thanks for the info Viv - I'll give it a try. Our height difference isnt quite as large as yours, I'm about 6 inches taller than Sharon so it should be fairly straightforward. Plan B is to move the pedals back so I can have the seat back and Sharon can have it forward but this causes a few other problems like me not being able to reach the gear lever quite as easily and the FIA bar getting in the way of the headrests Nick P8MRA - The greenid=green> one with redid=red> wings
Mrs Mav
Unfortunately that wouldn't work with the differences between me and Martin but i hope one of the methods works for you two. See you later Viv
