Racesuits - advice appreciated

Having studied the Grand Prix catalogue I think I may be too tall and slim ( it's all relativesmile.gif )to fit into an 'off the peg' suit and to get one made is expensive. Has anyone got any ideas or overcome this problem in a cost effective manner. I'm 6/4, about 14.75 stones and with long arms and back, (frightening isn't it)?

Cheers

I went to the Stand 21 Stand at the autosport show, and ALL of the people behind the counter just stood and laughed at me when I asked for some help and advise. Perhaps they will be more aminable (sp?) away from the public?

I am 6' 3", 15 stone, 33in legs and therefore long back and legs. I went to GP Racewear's shop in Chiswick and found a standard suit that fitted well (from Sparco). I tried a few before I got one that was good for me. The suit cost about £300, v's £850 for a made to measure job.

I am 6' 5" 13½ stone with 36" inside leg.

When I was looking for a race suit I really struggled as the bigger sizes were still half mast and short on the arms etc.

I did an internet search and found RG Racewear http://www.racewear.co.uk/car.htm

I made an appointment and went to see them at their factory in Calne, I was measured and chose colours and the type of suit. I chose the International suit in a kind of antiqued burgandy/maroon/raspberry coloured material with a cream and black chequerboard on the tummy and sleeves, cream floating sleeve underarmy bits and cuffs (it looks very retro in my opinion, and I like it a lot !)

The suit came in at just under £350 and has proved to be well made, it machine washes with no problems.

I would definately recommend RG as something a little bit different from the usual sparco/omp/momo etc.

Cheers

Jamie
