andytommo
I got me motor insured with Adrian Flux. Is they any good? Who do other people use? Andy
scooby dooby doo
i don't want to alrm you but several people have had a funny feeling with flux. I was quoted a different amount of the 4 occaisions when i rang them to get my first sevening quote. I now use Osbournes but MSM also have a very good reputation. Blatman
I wouldn't use Flux if they gave insurance away...........
DavidC
I use Flux at the mo for my Pug, but the customer service is ****e. Took nearly 8 months before I actually had a full and correct cover note from them. The cocked up simple things such as transfering a reg number, they got it wrong and then took months to correct it. The thing is, they are the only company who gave me anything live a reasonable quote...had no other option really. DC
JamesT
Used Adrian Flux last year but had problems with getting the right info on the schedule (reg no, cover for commuting etc) and didn't receive one of the documents they claimed to have sent. Renewal quote was OK, but MSM and HHH beat it. Didn't take up Flux's offer to match any other quote. HHH was cheapest, but MSM has had lots of good reports on this site so went with that. But that was only yesterday so will wait to see how it goes this year.
dino ferrana
Egger Lawson are good for me. Other people say the same and they include track cover. However the way one insurance conpany assess risk of an individual compared to another varies. Basically one company cannot give the cheapest quotes for everyone! I believe MSM don't do track cover but they have good press here for road use.
Andy Clayson
I use AON under their "classic" scheme. Never had to claim so have no experience of them doing real customer service but they seem to be ok whenever I have spoken to them. Free track day cover for L7CGB events too. Tim Sture
Have just got quotes for my new car (all three sources appear to give some discount for being member of L7 club): Basic cover details are: 1600cc superlight value £18k with throttle bodies, me (38) wife (35) and brother (45) to drive, garaged, 3000 miles MSM (01279 870535) £322, excluding UK/Europe breakdown (extra £28), no track cover Footman James (0121 561 6250) £234 including UK/Europe breakdown, no track cover (increse to £300 for 4,500 miles) Egger Lawson (0115 941 5255) £222 (not sure about breakdown) includes trackday cover (increases to £296 for 5,000 miles) So more miles and more cover from Egger Lawson at similar cost to Footman James but MSM off the pace for me. Steve Robinson
Just insured my SLR with Hill House Hammond after Egger Lawson proved too expensive to keep my business. Details: 98 SLR garaged in low risk area, 29 with 3 points. QUote was £338 limited to 3500 miles, no track day cover. Robbo
masha
Well done Tim - good thinking to include some phone nos. on there. I was with Chris Knot (bit pricey for me - only 27 you see), Presently with Footman James (01215616250) on a 1500/year policy, may u/g to 3000miles/year policy now the car is nearing 'completion' as a project If anyone can list the contact nos. for: - AON - Osbournes - HHH I'd be grateful, I'll keep them on file, and I'll have a ring around next time. Tim Sture
AON 0990 708090 Osbornes 020 8388 6000 Hill House Hammond 01733 310899 (I gave up calling them for being engaged all the time) I've lifted those numbers from Lotus @ Herts website so I cannot guarantee they are right Coming soon to a garage near me - a Superlight called N111 AOW
Taran Las
The above telephone numbers are the same as listed in a Low Flying article last year. Must assume they are correct. Phil Owen.
puremalt
Thanks for the advice ref Flux. I thought the cover note was slow, I still haven't had one since I insured on April 2nd. They were the cheapest though- £177 for a 1700 x flow, on 3000pa with 2 named drivers and garaged. Osbournes told me they had stopped insuring Caterhams. By the way, the AA quoted £1250..... Area Representative Nick Chan Posted June 8, 2002 Area Representative Share Posted June 8, 2002 Just had my renewal notice through with Flux and after the usual ringround, Flux has undercut HHH and come in at £168 for 3k miles with two named drivers (late 30's) and one SP30 in Stoke area. Add the legal and personal injury cover and it works out at £22.91 per month for 10 months or 63p/day... what else could give the fun at this price! teeth.gifcool.gif Interestingly I thought I would take the wife off the policy as she hardly drives the car at all (smile.gif and despite an own fault claim on her policy last year, it made no difference to the premium at all - so I have left her on for the renewal. Go with Flux if the premium suits, I have used them for years and not had any problems at all. HTH Nick
