Michael Fish
This is 100% genuine and not a wind up: He was just seen leaving Ford Motor Company HQ in Brentwood. I don't know if there is something going on that some of you may already know about, but it may be completely new news?!
I.Mupferit
It was reported a couple of weeks ago that E.J. was talking to Fords. Not sure you can read too much in to it as teams in his position always have to be looking for potential new suppliers, especially given Hondas record of unceremoniously dumping teams it is working with. Look at Williams after F.W. had his accident. Speaking personally, I can't abide Eddie Jordan and hope the only engine he can get his hands on is a 1300 Ka engine! Mind you even that might do better than his present Honda. Brent

Mark Piper
I hear he was being fitted up for a new syrup.... Doe they run Cosworth out of there? Has Gary G been underwriting some finance on next year's Jordans (if so, then it'll be an R500 for you eh Gary?...)
SL186.
Someone will correct me but I thought Cossie ran out of Dunton. It's the R&D place as far as I know. Now I DO get out more! teeth.gif
Gary G
Just done a 3 year deal on one of his F1 cars. £30k per month then a £100k balloon. I screwed £25k commission out of the deal! . . . . Al, you're right. It's just pen-pushers at Brentwood HQ C7 GAR id=red> Edited by - Gary G on 30 May 2002 14:07:

Nick M
I *think* Ford bought back Cosworth from VW due to the close connections they've had over the years. Weren't cheap though. Cosworth is based in Northampton - they don't so much have a factory up there as an entire industrial estate !!

Al Crickmore
Hold on. So you have one team that's got engines but hopeless at building cars, and another that seems to have a decent car but no solid engine base. Jordan Jaguar F1? Mark Piper
If Ford bought it back I bet (or hope) Piech stiffed them on the price. It's the only decent part of the Jaguar package, mind, as its installation in the Arrows shows. Unless he can buy some Ferrari engines, EJ's well advised to stick Cosworths in the back of his car - what about him doing a bulk purchase deal with Tom Walkinshaw and Paul Stoddart?...time for a posting on Blatchat's "For Sale" perhaps? Crany
By the way, Cosworth Technology is owned by VAG and Cosworth Racing by Ford. Mark.
pie_boy69
Dunton is the Ford motor company small vehicle engineering centre housing ford design only with some suppliers for road vehicles, Cosworth as said is in Northampton and was owned by one of the german car companies I think during some of the Rolls Royce sell offs it was then sold back to ford and now makes part of there performance division alongside PI instuments. Reading Autosport online it mentions that Jordan could well have lost there Honda power for 2003 which could be why he is talking to people with a good customer engine but this also places Sato's place int the team at jepoardy, I happen to know Fisichelas Gearbox technician so will probe to see what he knows or more to the point what he can tell. Gary G
Crany, Brentwood may be the marketing and financial part of Ford, but it does house all of the senior directors of UK operations who have decision-making powers and Video Conference facilities that link into Dearborn where the really big decisions are made...
