Fitted Shift lights - RPM now read 500 higher

So, I finally got round to fitting my Shift - i lights today.

 

Hard wired in (soldered). Live taken from spare terminal on ign switch. Earth from the speedo multi plug and the tacho signal from the white / black wire also ont he speedo multiplug.

 

Reconnected everything and started up and the rev counter now seems to be reading 500 rpm high (tickover was ~1500 instead of 1000).

 

Anyone else seen this? Std EU3 1.6ss K.

Minus 1500? So you've fitted a Honda engine too? *tongue*

 

I use exactly the same feeds as you - my Shift-I works fine and does not affect the main rev counter.

 

Only thing I can thin of doing is to fit a diode between the two - that way the Shift-I has no chance of influencing the signal into the tacho...
