I'm pretty sure i was told that if you reverse the std wing stays side to side ie left stay on right wheel, then this will allow you to fit the CSR wings on the std stays.

I may be wrong and the above is completely wrong, but its worth a try.

Now I'm even more confused - 3 very different answers *confused* *rolleyes*

Wonky - are you sure the CSR stays will fit an S3 🤔

Dave - not sure how you'd use std stays as the CSR wing fitment is different ie 1 stay over the top and 1 bolted flanged on the inside of the wheel thus enabling the snug fit 🤔

Mark did you simply rework your S3 stays, is the rear stay in the correct place for the SCR wing 🤔

Thanks for your replies guys *thumbup*

The only parts I used from the original stay is the boss that bolts through the stub axle and the flat metal plate that bolts through the top mount ands connects the two stay tubes. However, the top plates were switched, the N/S to the O/S and vice versa, then cut down to get the correct angle for the CSR wing fixings. The tubes were new metal that was bent and cut to fit before welding to the boss and top plate.

I have heard of the method DaveK describes however, when looking to fit mine I was not happy with this as the rear mount went under the wing and not through the side as per the CSR.

I have CSR wings on mine....

See here and here.

I made the wingstays up myself using bits from standard wingstays and some 4130 I had kicking about. . .. absolute barsteward job it was as well.

That's a 215 Kumho on there in the first photo on an 8" Caterham rear rim. I normally use 8" fornt wheels with either 175/530 or 180/550 radial slicks (i.e. CSR race or F3 fronts).

I currently run 185/60 x 13 but will be changing to 215/50 x 13 early in the new year. Drop me a Blatmail and I''ll email you some pictures later today.

As Adam said not the easiest of jobs and I estimate it took me around 6 hours to fabricate with Peter T's assistance/welding

Dave, yes please - I will be over your way at the end of the week - you about Friday evening?

If so, please email me your address and number *thumbup*

7WOTW - if you want to put wide fronts on and keep standardish offsets (and maintain steering characteristics) bespoke wingstays are needed (whatever wings you put on them) as the standard wingstays run too close to the inside of the wheel.

I fitted csr wings on my last car, I think they look good *thumbup*

I used 185/60 tyres but agree would look better with wider rubber.

I think you can see them on my sig below as I haven't updated it yet

If you use the car in all weathers or are a polisher I would be careful as I found they throw up a lot more cr*p from the road all over you and the side of the car, water seemed to come out with quite a spray right over the screen too, obviously in a straight line no probs but those bends.... 😬

Good luck

Wings are MOG carbon

I was very fortunate to find some stays taken from a customers car at a local dealership as they were trying to bring the other car back to original spec *smile*

They were really nicely fabricated, ask Byker Will the new owner, i'm sure he could send you a couple of piccies if he could prise the cover off and fight his way through the golf trolleys 😬

The back section of the stay could be sleeved and you could have an adjustable height front stay to cope with different tyre heights, well thats if you have more time on your hands than me.

Sure the reverse wingstays aren't that easy *eek*

captain chaos: It's just occurred to me that you couldn't possibly use standard stays for MOG's CSR wings as the front stay leg would be too high. They must mean you can use modified reversed standard stays - i.e. with the front leg cut down and a plate welded on.
