Mark w Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 As i have had the front lower wishbone off to change a worn swivel bearing i also took the precaution of changing the lower wishbone to damper bolts .  Closer inspection reveals that both bolts are bent slightly . 😳 I would suggest that anyone else who is "servicing" their front suspension takes the step of replacing these cheap parts.   Â
6speedmanual Posted December 8, 2007 Posted December 8, 2007 This is strange and unexpected . How much were they bent? Any idea when/how they got bent? 6SpeedManual *tongue*There's no such thing as too much BHP per Ton 😬
Mark w Posted December 8, 2007 Author Posted December 8, 2007 They are not bent much , but if you roll them over a flat surface you can see that they are definately not straight any more.  The dampers are fine , not solid.
Paul Thompson Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 I have had one of these break consequently recommend that you change them each year.
JACK FLASH Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 Do you know if the bent bolts were the standard ones, supplied by Caterham, or perhaps aftermarket ones ? Which type of suspension and make of shocks have you got ? Jack Flash
Mark w Posted December 11, 2007 Author Posted December 11, 2007 Bolts and shocks were as supplied by CC 3.5 years ago , R400 widetrack with Billies. 9000 miles , mostly on the road. Â
JACK FLASH Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Mark, Thanks for the info. Another issue on the to do list.  Jack Flash
