I plan to fit a cigar lighter to the dash as I need a phone & satnav charger. Any good sources of info available about how best to fit?

It is worth going for a multi socket version... try Maplins, I bought a couple of 4-ups from them for around £10. If you haven't found it yet, a helpful tip is to fit a plug to your battery conditioner and you can put the battery on charge simply by plugging into your cigarette lighter.

This statement assume the wiring comes direct from the battery (not through the ignition switch) and you have an in-line fuse fitted.

Halfords do a few versions - I got a 3-socket version from their 'MaxPower' section. Reason I chose it is that it has a switch box (with LEDs *smile*) - so I can mount the socket somewhere hidden, and have the switch box up on top of the central tunnel, under the dash. I use it for bullet cam etc, but having a switch handy is very useful.

Incidently, the same range (covered in Japanese writing) in Halfords, also do a very good 'leather' map pocket for about £6 that can be fitted onto the transmission tunnel as a handy storage pocket!

Ha - interesting question - When I test drove an SV last year it had a power socket at left under the dash. When my Sigma 150 Roadsport SV kit arrived it didn't have a power socket. I complained and was told I hadn't selected it as an option. I complained that it wasn't listed as an option so assumed it was standard. Subsequently CC said they would fit one for me FOC at the pre-SVA.

During the build I found two wires above the diff with no obvious purpose. I asked and was told these are for the power socket, which is fitted between the seats in the rear bulkhead.

When I collected my car after the SVA a power socket had been fitted but in the vertical panel behind the battery, positioned just outboard of the battery. It was wired direct to the battery with an in-line fuse. Not what I had understood would be the position but actually ideal for my PDA sat-nav and away from rain.

I fitted mine by getting electricity from a connector under the dash, behind the steering, under that rubber cover. I fixed it simply around the loom under the dash. It is very well hidden and has worked great for n800 / satnav purposes.
