Brucey Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Just a quicky  I've been looking at my new R300 EU2 engine. It looks like the inlet area on the Cylinder Head has been machined (as an ex Toolmaker with a touch of OCD, I had to file off the machining burrs 😳). The engine was originally fitted with throttle bodies, but I'm fitting my 1400ss plenum. Are all Caterham heads machined (the front face just touches the casting number above 2&3 inlets), or is it done for throttle bodies only? Will this cause me problems fitting my Plenum? I know I will have to machine out the inlet ports on the Plenum to match the larger ports in the head. Any advice appreciated before I start pulling my 1400 out. Bruce.
oilyhands Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Only the R300, R400 and R500 ports are touched, that is to match the TBs, you may find that the early plenum does not actually cover the holes at the top, this can be rectified by elongating the mounting holes and lifting the plenum slighty, you will need a VVC or similar inlet gasket, the 1400 one will be too small on both the port size and the flange size. I would make som attempt to match the plenum to the head. oily
