FTH Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Anyone want to swap an FIA bar and a JJ half hood for a roadsport cage? Edited by - FTH on 21 Nov 2007 19:06:01
David Lynch Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 How old a Roadsport cage? Safety Devices/Arch Diagonal or Caged/Caterham Dee ?? I must remember that I'm in public
David Lynch Posted November 22, 2007 Posted November 22, 2007 I'll pass ta, need to lower floor first ☹️ BTTT on me I must remember that I'm in public
Archie Procter Posted November 23, 2007 Posted November 23, 2007 AFAIK the Caged ones and the standard SD ones are the same height. The reason Caged ones might look taller with driver in is that they were only supplied with cars with lowered floors - i.e. Academy 04 onwards. SD did a "tall" cage but Caged have/do not, I guess as all the racecars now have lowered floors so you would need to be very tall indeed to need a lowered floor and a tall cage. I know of one special order Caged one that is slightly higher than standard, but I expect this to be the priciest option.
FTH Posted November 23, 2007 Author Posted November 23, 2007 Ive been told mine is a tall one, will post pics to anyone interested.

markc Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Hi FTH How much and what year car is it for ? I have an 89 dedion - dont think it will fit - will it ???? MarkC
FTH Posted November 26, 2007 Author Posted November 26, 2007 Its on a 2001 dedion, looking to replace it with FIA bar and JJ hood, so that puts it at approx £300
FTH Posted November 29, 2007 Author Posted November 29, 2007 The vertical dim from mounting plate behind seat to underside of the top of the cage is 410mm.
Archie Procter Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 which does indeed mean you have a 'tall' cage. These are rare in comparison to the standard SD cages and a lot more expensive - new price (if you can still get them, which I doubt) is 700 quid inc the VAT In reasonable condition I would suggest its value is 350-400, I have never seen one of these go for less than 350. HTH
simonbell Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Thanks for photo and dimensions, I am not convinced by how the tall cage looks so I'm going to hold off and go for a std cage with lowered floors. simon redshaw Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Is the cage still available? Rgds Simon7R
simon redshaw Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Anyone want to swap an FIA bar and a JJ half hood for a roadsport cage? i have a 95 live axel car with lowered flooring. i think this would gave would fit, but have you got a photo or 2? Any dimensions available? I have a spare FIA bar, but what is a JJ half hood? If swapping is not an option what are your options for sale please? Cheers Simon7R
Archie Procter Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 Simon, sorry but this type of cage won't fit a live axle, the rear arms of the later DD cage go into the chassis behind the driver/passenger and bolt through there. LA ones have a mounting plate at the base of the cage's rear arms, and sit on top of the chassis at the bulkhead.
