grumpy the 7th Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Has anybody used this process?? Does it work?? Does anybody know of anything like this Upt'norf http://www.powerengineering.co.uk/acatalog/servicing.htm edited to add the price I was quoted for a Caterham (I reminded them it was "very easy access") very reasonable for you guys down south rog C7 TNT - it's Dynamite!(Honda Irish Green and Peugeot Graphite grey) Edited by - roger heeley on 17 Nov 2007 12:15:52
Paul Deslandes Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Its more expensive than taking them off and having them skimmed. I got mine done locally for £30 the pair. But you don't have the hassle of taking them off.
DaveMorris Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Don't know where you are "oop Norf" but there's a man in Whitchurch (Shrops) who can definitely do it - though I think it's cutting rather than grinding. Number would be 01948 664688 I would expect a number of garages local to you could do it though Dave X-flow(er) power now resting. Trying Vx for a change.
grumpy the 7th Posted November 15, 2007 Author Posted November 15, 2007 Dave, keep going up 😶🌫️ Peoples Republic of South Yorkshire (& N Notts) rog C7 TNT - it's Dynamite!(Honda Irish Green and Peugeot Graphite grey)
DaveMorris Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 That's about due East from here isn't it ? X-flow(er) power now resting. Trying Vx for a change.
Sheds Moderator Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 I think it works well but is generally only cost effective on 4x4s etc with big expensive discs.
Simon.H Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 I had this done on my last car up at a Ford tuners in Birmingham. They setup a special brake lathe while everything was still attached to the car. It took a couple of hours to too but the advantage (so I'm told) was that they would be perfectly true to the hubs, where as part of the problem I had could be down to a problem with the hubs as well as warped rotors. The other problem I had was getting hold of replacement rotors to suit the imperial hats - the only supplier was in the US with a stupid lead time! Anyway enough waffle, I'll try and find out the name of the company!
nickh7 Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 Roger Wouldn't it be easier just to buy new discs Its Yellow And Black and Makes me 😬here
grumpy the 7th Posted November 17, 2007 Author Posted November 17, 2007 Nick £280 for a pair my discs are still plenty thick enough but one has a slight run out. That grinding place http://www.powerengineering.co.uk/acatalog/servicing.htm will do a caterham for £20+vat per side so very reasonable if you live south of Watford. Just need to find a place a bit nearer home rog C7 TNT - it's Dynamite!(Honda Irish Green and Peugeot Graphite grey)
