Mark w Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Some time ago i posted here re a problem with a flasher unit on an Audi A2 .The "masses" responded to my call with a link to an A2 forum with the answer to my problem. I now have another electrical gremlim. The central locking " receiver unit " seems to have packed up.The only way i can get into the car is to unlock with the key and I have to bypass the alarm by putting the key in the ignition. The boot will not open unless the ignition is on . My helpful local Audi dealer offered to look into the problem for £136 per hour ❗, thanks but no thanks, its the kids car and 7 years old .Does anyone know how the system works , i suspect that replacing the " receiver unit " will cure the problem.Once the car is unlocked it will lock again via the remote control ❗ Before anyone suggests it , yes i have replaced the batteries in the remote control. I know its not a Caterham query but there must be some VAG owners out there who have experienced this issue . Cheers
shn7 Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 I'm no expert but does the remote have a separate unlock button? If so as that's a moving part I'd investigate that first. I've had remotes where the button has got dirt under it and prevents the micro switch working. I've also had one where the battery connector broke. Pressing on one part of the fob works but not on another part. Chagning the battery made no difference in these cases. Steve. Sussex (West) AR Not forgetting Percy the Polar Bear
peterg Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 Does it do this with the 'spare' key...? I assume you have one that will at least eliminate the obvious and if it still doesn't work then it's almost certainly the receiver unit 😶🌫️
