DaveMorris Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 Moving house and downsizing lawn means that this brute is a bit oversized now. 24" Webb Cylinder mower of "indeterminate age" - probably ~1980 Original B&S motor replaced ~10 years ago with 5.5hp Honda engine. Always starts on first pull (if petrol present !). Grass-box replaced ~5 years ago (cost ~£250 IIRC). Comes with detachable seat/roller. Also a pair of front wheels to allow 3" grass to be "topped" in the orchard. Spare drive pulley and belts Full working order, used through this last "summer", although a bit of touching up would be needed for the perfectionists. New handle mounted throttle adjuster also required following snagging on a tree (though the one on the engine works fine). Definitely not postable so collection from Oswestry (Shrops). Alternatively could arrange delivery if not too far. Ideal for local cricket or bowling club if your garden is the same size as mine. Pictures could be taken if required. OIRO £325 X-flow(er) power now resting. Trying Vx for a change.
DaveMorris Posted November 13, 2007 Author Posted November 13, 2007 Having been absolutely stunned by the response .. .. .. Is it :- a/. Too big, b/. Too expensive, c/. Too old, d/. Too green, e/. Too specialised or f/. Too late in the year or some combination of the above. As you can imaging, I don't sell many lawnmowers, so don't know the market that well. X-flow(er) power now resting. Trying Vx for a change.
Mickrick Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Is it green? Maybe it would sell if you painted a yellow stripe down the middle of it 😬 Sorry The older I get, the faster I was! Edited by - Mickrick on 17 Nov 2007 12:07:03
ziplobb Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I THINK ITS DEAD RIGHT I used to have one and they are cracking I would probably buy this from you if were not for the logistics - I really miss the cylinder cut when I look out of my bedroom window in the mornings - rotary mowing is just such a compromise. My old one had a Suzuki engine which I have kept. Just check out the price of a new 24" Atco - they are well over £2K Come to Wighblat 08 and have a slice of my birthday cake
Nifty Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 Dave, Could you E-mail me pictures to here please? I may be interested. Cheers, Nifty. Keep off the straight and narrow 😬
Tony Whitley Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 I think it's the word "Webb" that's putting people off - I've got a vision of a lawnmower painted a garish yellow one side and a garish orange the other, with a ludicrous "zip" down the middle. It's very powerful and will shave over a second off the time to mow a stripe on your lawn but it will break down before you finish the second one. Or is that just me?
Colin Powell Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Could you please send a picture please, i have a ride on but it has no roller, and my dad likes his stripes 😬. Cheers Colin Go on then just one more
John Howe Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Surprised it wasn't gobbled up instantly. I have one mothballed and the number of times people ask me if I still have it and "would I like to sell it". Guess that don't make the likes anymore...
