I have the 6 x 13 Minators on my Superlight which are in need of a refurb. They have black centres with a clear lacquer surround. The centres all look fine but the surround on a couple of them is looking tatty where they've been chipped over the years and water has got in underneath. I would just like to get these surrounds relacquered, but looking at various wheel refurb websites it would appear that the average cost is about £65-£75 per wheel *eek* I think a new wheel is only about £90. Any suggestions of who/where would do this for me at a reasonable price?

Thanks

Piers

Wheels Approved in Adlestone Surrey did a couple of 13" mini light copies which were very tatty for £50 cash each. They look like new when they were finished.

Brand new 6 x 13's Black with d/cut rim from Polley's are £55 plus VAT.

these guys charge £34.50 plus VAT here

I'd buy new and sell on your set to somebody for trackday use, you'll probably end up with new wheels for a net £30 each *thumbup*

I think Mark is right, I had some rather scruffy wheels in gold with legal Yokos on and I could barely give them away. In the end they went to a racer who just wanted spare wheels for practice that he could bounce up kerbs with impunity.

Many thanks for the replies chaps *thumbup*

Mark, your idea seems the most cost efficient. I can't believe how cheap those rims are new *eek* *biggrin*

I had the same problem, I carefully masked stripped off the laquer from the polished rim with paint stripper then polished it with Belgom. Still looks good after 2 years and its easy to repolish.

Piers,

Can I just ask which wheel nuts you use on your minilites? I'm wondering if the ones I got with my 15" anthracites are the correct ones.
