medonaldson Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Sorry - Its that age old question of paint codes! I have read through the many posts on here, and did manage to speak to someone at CC a few months ago. They gave me the email address of Rosie at CC who would be able to search the arhive. I emailed her last week and it has bounced back as undelivered. Does anyone have any contacts or any idea what the paintcode would be for the following: '94 Supersport 1.4K. Metaillic red/burgundy. Someone thinks it is probably a Rover colour - Nightfire red (paintcode 916). It does look a very close match (if not exact). Can onyone confirm or deny that this is a colour that was used by CC. Thank you. K7 GDR '94 1.4k Supersport
Ged Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Sorry can't advise on your colour, but even with the code I'd advise taking a part with you for a match. Mines Renault Sport blue. Didn't seem to be available off the shelf, so a search on the net indicated it was the colour used on the Clio Williams MK1 (code 449), but not the MK2. Simple I thought, a one off colour for a one off car. When I went to get it made up, there was 6 different shades 😳. Luckily I'd taken the filler cap.
Dickie Normuss Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Mines a '93 vx that's a metallic burgundy but I thought it was a GM colour? VX HPC - Loud and proud here Watch out, whatever hits the fan will not be distributed evenly
Fishy Dave Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 I recently had a go at spraying the side of my car not a great job if I'm honest but better than the large areas of no paint at all where stickers were ripped off. I went to Halfords where they had a whole folder of paint colours. A guy spent a good 20 minutes with me and the car getting the best match. Mine is letterbox red, but we found the best match was a Mazda colour, so they mixed that up for me next day. It's only the spray can finish which lets it down rather than the colour. Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted November 10, 2007 Leadership Team Posted November 10, 2007 Go to a decent paint supplier and get a correct match - they'll do it in whatever form you want, in a tin to be thinned and sprayed through a gun, aerosol, or just a simple touch up. My last 7 was "bog standard Caterham red" - plain gel-coat wings etc. - my paint supplier matched it as one of the 3 shades of Toyota Super Red! Like Ged says there's many different shades of what would appear to be the same colour - going from a book listing will not be anywhere near unless you're just plain lucky! Bet you didn't know there's 5 official shades of Ford Diamond White!!!! Stu. www.superse7ens.co.uk..........the rebuild 😬
JampJ Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 As paints get older they fade slightly, the only way to get a perfect match is as mentioned earlier, go to a good paint supplier who can match and mix the paint for you. Cheers John JFDI (Just F*****g Do It)
