Sorry - Its that age old question of paint codes! I have read through the many posts on here, and did manage to speak to someone at CC a few months ago.

They gave me the email address of Rosie at CC who would be able to search the arhive. I emailed her last week and it has bounced back as undelivered. Does anyone have any contacts or any idea what the paintcode would be for the following: '94 Supersport 1.4K. Metaillic red/burgundy. Someone thinks it is probably a Rover colour - Nightfire red (paintcode 916). It does look a very close match (if not exact). Can onyone confirm or deny that this is a colour that was used by CC. *confused*

Thank you.

Sorry can't advise on your colour, but even with the code I'd advise taking a part with you for a match.

Mines Renault Sport blue. Didn't seem to be available off the shelf, so a search on the net indicated it was the colour used on the Clio Williams MK1 (code 449), but not the MK2. Simple I thought, a one off colour for a one off car. When I went to get it made up, there was 6 different shades 😳. Luckily I'd taken the filler cap.

I recently had a go at spraying the side of my car not a great job if I'm honest but better than the large areas of no paint at all where stickers were ripped off. I went to Halfords where they had a whole folder of paint colours. A guy spent a good 20 minutes with me and the car getting the best match.

Mine is letterbox red, but we found the best match was a Mazda colour, so they mixed that up for me next day. It's only the spray can finish which lets it down rather than the colour.

Go to a decent paint supplier and get a correct match - they'll do it in whatever form you want, in a tin to be thinned and sprayed through a gun, aerosol, or just a simple touch up. My last 7 was "bog standard Caterham red" - plain gel-coat wings etc. - my paint supplier matched it as one of the 3 shades of Toyota Super Red!

Like Ged says there's many different shades of what would appear to be the same colour - going from a book listing will not be anywhere near unless you're just plain lucky! Bet you didn't know there's 5 official shades of Ford Diamond White!!!!

As paints get older they fade slightly, the only way to get a perfect match is as mentioned earlier, go to a good paint supplier who can match and mix the paint for you.
