paulhodgson Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Just had my HPC overheat after a short run, was letting it idle and the fan failed to cut in , so much water duly boiled out. Is the trick here to fit a manual switch, or copuld it be something else more sinister.
caterhamnut Posted November 3, 2007 Posted November 3, 2007 Had this recently on our K - thought it was the sender in the rad, but turned out to be a corroded power connection to the fan - worth checking...I unplugged ours and it was rather green. I was pointed in this direction as the usual trick of shorting the sender wires didn't work (I was on the side of the motorway at the time, having boiled over in stationary traffic - me and the car!) www.mycaterham.com here Videos here 101,000 miles car
paulhodgson Posted November 3, 2007 Author Posted November 3, 2007 Thanks Angus, will try that in the morning. I replaced the thermostat only 5 months ago after a previous overheat, so it shouldn't be that. Last thing, I noticed that the reservoir was still quite full after it had cooled off and I took off the cap, being mechanically useless, i wonder if I had overfilled it, and hence it had over pressurised, mind you, the fan should still have cut in... i think I'm rambling now.
