Leadership Team Mcalvert Posted November 1, 2007 Leadership Team Posted November 1, 2007 As part of my chassis strip down I need to decide which parts should be refurbished/replaced. I am obviously having all the bushes renewed, but what about parts like the track rod ends - they are only cheap to replace, but do they play an active part in the suspension or should I jusr regrease and put back? Thanks, Michael.
CageyH Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 If there is no play in them, leave them. You can rplace them when required. Only dead fish go with the flow....!
jerrypike Posted November 1, 2007 Posted November 1, 2007 how old are they? if worn the rear end "clonks" if the suspensions stripped i'd be inclined to replace- remember how many threads engaged unless someone is changing the set-up for you jerry
Area Representative Nick Chan Posted November 1, 2007 Area Representative Posted November 1, 2007 Michael, I would automatically replace the track rod ends as part of the refurb. If the olds are in decent condition then stick then on the parts shelf. You can bet your bottom dollar that if you don't do it now, they will only need doing sooner than you expect next time round! Nick The BEC has gone - now onto an R400!!
millsn Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 Not really wishing to hijack but is a sexier version of the caterham track rod end available anywhere?
Tony Whitley Posted November 2, 2007 Posted November 2, 2007 I just splurged 47p on one of these for the MOT. I didn't really need it, there were only a couple of small splits in thr old one, but I thought "Hang the expense. You only live once".
