IKB Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Can anyone who has changed the oil recently advise on the correct filter. The thread on this topic is rather old and misleading....eg. is it for a renault 4 or 5, halfords numbers keep changing etc. Someone must have a definitive solution. Also spark plugs...are the twin electrode Bosch Super still favourite? Thanks in anticipation. Come on Guys....65 viewings and has nobody changed the oil yet ☹️ Edited by - brunel on 25 Oct 2007 09:30:08
paul abrahams Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Brunel I used to have a 1.6 vx and used the following for lots of useful info Do a search on Techtalk, since the beginning Granteuk posted a thread on 14/03/04 at 12.37 titled "useful info for vx 1600 owners - updated with MOT stuff" Lots of really useful stuff on that thread
IKB Posted October 27, 2007 Author Posted October 27, 2007 Thanks Paul I have already seen that thread but it was a while ago and the references to the oil filter are out of date. As these cars are still out there being raced etc I hoped I would get some up to date info for plugs and filter. It is a bit like owning a vintage Bentley to get user experience on this model...there was a life before fuel injection, K series etc. Back to basics
paul abrahams Posted October 27, 2007 Posted October 27, 2007 Great cars I would have bought a new HPC on carbs if they still made them when I sold my Vx. Loved the pops and bangs and coughing from the webers I have a 1.8 VVC now which I've grown to like even more as it's faster 😬
drB Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 bought a new filter from CC a couple of months ago - pretty sensible price so might be worth contacting them directly? markings on my filter suggest manufacturer is "UFI" and serial number is 2311800 a lot of our 1.6 vx race cars in the graduates racing club are serviced by McMillan Motorsport to the original Caterham spec they're based near Leicester and more info here http://www.mcmm.co.uk
