Crumpynut Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 I have an 87 Xflow which has a lucas distributor. The rotor arm has part no 533 3786 and has (had) an inverted metal slotted cup bonded to the underside which I assume triggers the spark. Said metal cup is no longer attached, and sparks have subsequently ceased. Are these rotor arms still available and if so where from. If not I assume I will need a new distributor, any recomendations and can anyone advise on timing set up etc. As a last resort has anyone tried bonding the two parts back together.
New Cat Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 I'd have to recommend going Megajolt 😬 but otherwise I'm led to believe these rotor arms are available. Revin Kevin is the man to ask I believe. If you're very stuck and anxious to stay on a dizzy I can recommend switching to a Bosch Valencia Dizzy from a mid 80's Escort /Fiesta. Jon 1994 1.7 Supersprint De-dion X-Flow. Yellow with black cycle wings - Now with Megajolt !
JampJ Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 It is, or was a common problem, no longer used, araldite usually did the trick. Swap to an Aldon ignitor. Cheers John JFDI (Just F*****g Do It)
New Cat Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Megajolt is a great winter project. It completely transforms the tractability and overall driveability of the car. Jon
NevDyson Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 I think I have an Aldon dizzy in the garage that came off my 1700 Xflow, I had the same issue a year or so ago and had to change. Blatmail if interested.
