duh Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 I have an R400 race car which needs new front and rear discs.Caterham calipers front,ap racing rear. Are their other discs available other than Caterham, ie drilled grooved etc?
Irrelevant Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Are their other discs available other than Caterham, ie drilled grooved etc? Nope . .. you're scuppered. A set of fronts, cost approximately an arm, and a set of rears, a leg - plus VAT of course
Paul Deslandes Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 are you sure they can't just be refaced, or are they worn too thin?
duh Posted October 22, 2007 Author Posted October 22, 2007 Buckled i think would be correct description.
Irrelevant Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Buckled i think would be correct Maybe, but I doubt it. Get them skimmed and I bet they'll be fine. For £15 a time, you can't go wrong.
Paul Deslandes Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Certainly worth checking. I found a local engineering firm who did my fronts for £30 the pair. He put them up on a face plate on his lathe and did them in his lunch hour. I think the £30 went into the works Xmas party fund! They've done two hard hill climb seasons and have been great.
Sheds Moderator Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Second calls to have them skimmed by an engineer if they are not worn down to below min thickness.
jackb_ms Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 What is mini thickness? Jack Emily, The Very Yellow 21
