athens7 Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 Avon ZZ3 205/45ZR16 83W. Can anyone tell me the recommended maximum and minimum pressures, for both street and track use? Brad 2005 SV SVT Zetec
mav Posted October 13, 2007 Posted October 13, 2007 Brad, I use those on my SV and have found 16 - 18 psi (cold) great for road use. For track (if you have to) I run with about 22psi cold (approx 24 psi hot).
athens7 Posted October 13, 2007 Author Posted October 13, 2007 Thanks. I expect these tyres are at best mediocre for track use, but I'm going to my first autocross tomorrow, and they're what I've got. They seem to be nice street tyres, though. Dartmoor7 Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 I used to run my 16s at 16 psi cold for road use, they still wore the centres. MY BLAT-O-METER 2007: 65 (to 4th October) 2006: 89 2005: 91 2004: 64 2003: 66 2002: 66 2001: 79 2000: 32 (divorce!) 1999: NRA
sjmmarsh Posted October 14, 2007 Posted October 14, 2007 CusterCat I run at the same pressure as you and Mav on the road, but only take them up to 18psi on the track as it feels better to drive than 24psi. I think the centres wear faster due to 'ballooning' of the tyres at speed - my indicated speed is only 1mph above actual (GPS) speed all the way to 60, but after that it gets progressively further out, with 100mph actual when the speedo is showing 95...
