I've just bought a starter kit + all the bits Scooter was selling, the starter kit is due mid Oct and i need to spec any options. What are the benefits of

Stack dash, I know they are good, are they worth the money?

Lowered floors, is it just extra height for tall people, I see the Academy cars have them?

Heater - it's more of a sunday blat/trackday car so not sure if this is worthwhile?

LSD - What spec is the caterham one?

Paint - Caterham want £1175 for my non standard colour and stripe, what's the quality of their paint like, I use a decent bodyshop down here so i know I can get it cheaper just not sure if it's worth the extra hassle

Anything else I should be thinking of getting?

Paint isa done by TSK and is of good quality. Do a search on here for TSK and see what people have to say.

Stack dash is a personal choice.

I like the look of the traditional gauges.

How tall are you? Lowered floor is useful if you are tall and run a windscreen. You can see through it then.

If you do not intend to use the car in the cold and wet, don't get a heater.

I wouldn't be without my heater, great for a 6am blat in the winter. I don't mind being a little cold but I really feel it at high speeds with the cold air. Mine is the new directional type, so works a treat. How much weight does it add? It can't be too much 3-kg including the extra coolant?

Wear more clothes. That only gives the penalty when you need it!

I should say the lowered floor is worth it. It gives (at least for me) a better driving position.

And the Stack dash. Yes please. Fancy the cleaner layout.

But all IMO.

Stack dash Looks good but doubt less than 1% use it for any gain. waste of money

Lowered floors, Most people sit far too high in the cars so get one when its built

Heater - Get a second hand one for £50

LSD - Get a second hand one

Paint - TSK may do a nice job but its cellulose, get it done locally in 2K and cheaper

I spoke to Caterham and they said they wouldn't fit it for me, I use an AIM MXL in the racer and like them alot, very handy to have everything in one place but I don't wantr to complicate the build so ideally i want it fitted at factory

Having driven RJ car with the lowered floor a couple of times I can say that compared to my own with a standard floor the driving position is much better.

Is the lower floor worth it if you are running Tillets - these seat you nice and low. However I'm not 6' *tongue*

Its finally finished :-) I'm out driving.

Ok, i'm going for lowered floor, stack dash and although I have a brand new CF dash they won't fit it for me, so have to pay the £200 extra to have theirs!

Any last bits of advice before I firm up the options?

Whenyou build the car, Think Light. The best time to add lightness is when assembling and every part can be considered before fitting. It's much more work to lighten afterwards by taking things off again.
