SkiSunday Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Quality torque wrench wanted. I'm building a car for next years Acadamy and need a torque wrench. Not sure what I need so help received with thanks.
Tony C Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Draper 1/2" square drive bendy pointer type - works a treat 😬 see here Don't be seduced into "wasting" money on a torque wrench which is 'certified' and costs an arm and a leg BRG Brooklands SV 😬 It seems that perfection is achieved not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing more to take away. TOM91ACE Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Hello, I have a new [used once] torque wrench.1/2 inch drive, reversing ratchet. It is a TorcoFlex-K by Rahsol 20 to 200 Nm. 15 to 150 Lbs-ft. If you are interested £25 plus postage. Regards,Tom.
Grubbster Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Hi Ski - I'm not far from you and have an engine crane you can borrow when you get to that stage (and probably a few other bits to save you needing to get everything.
CharlesElliott Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Quite a big group of us managed to get a deal on a Britool wrench a couple of years ago. The mid-range wrenches from Halfords or Teng seem as good as any. Up to 100Nm will do you for everything apart from the rear hub nuts for which you can borrow a wrench - or Caterham will torque them on the post build check anyway. [Or I have a 200lb/ft wrench you can borrow]. IMHO, at 200lb/ft you can do a weight/length calculation with a breaker bar. elie boone Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 Just a note : don't forget to unwind the torquewrench when not in use.
