Hi Crudders ,

Brent of Chiswick recomended I ask you for advice on the star tabs that are fitted to the back end flange on the 4 speed Escourt Sport box .

Do the fold up or down as in the the down position they have nothing to stop them rotating and undoing the remote lever bit , as I have just found? The forward to bulkhead definitly have some stops for the tabs and go down but can't see what stops them on the gear lever flange bit so have wired between the tabs and chasis bridge thats directly under it to se if that works ?.

Hi Ian. I think I can picture the scene, although this part of my painfully slow rebuild was a while ago now 😳 If I recall correctly the star tabs are more or less redundant on the remote lever as they are designed to fold down over the end of the selector rod tube. I found that the nylon thread on my car was such a tight fit in the chassis mount that the base of the lever unscrewing itself wasn't a concern. It certainly never came undone in the previous 32,000 miles (and that's exactly 32,000 miles and no tenths before the crump, spookily *eek*).

It sounds like you've got it covered with wiring it in place *thumbup*

Thanks Crudders and Brent.

Possibly down to me not fitting it (screwing it down enough )properly after the gearbox re-build me thinks .Too much in a hurry to try it out I suspect. Operator error! Must say that I still love the sound of my humble X Flow with the Grand Fabrications seemingly strait through exaust . Scares the very tails off the local horses and sounds like historic FI when opend up. I am forbidden to take it out first thing on Sunday's for fear of waking up the neibourhood. Have the benefits also at present of my sons K series ex Accademy Seven to swap to and both are great to drive on B roads but the X Flow sounds the dogs .However fitted with the seven Workshops excellent Techcraft re-packable it does pass Goodwoods 98DB noise test .

Best Blatting to you both.
