Does anyone have any good tips on how to increase the height of the centre rear-view mirror on a Caterham aeroscreen set up? I've found that, for track days, the standard position of the mirror completely blocks my view forwards and to the near side - so placing the car accurately for LH turns becomes impossible (well, that's my excuse, anyway!).

I am thinking of increasing the stem length to raise the mirror; does anyone have experience of doing this? Is a longer stem available from Caterham or from SPA Designs? Or has anyone come up with a better fix?

The 'standard' stem from SPA is 100mm tall instead of 40mm (IIRC) for the 'Caterham' version.

I found the 100mm one waaaaaay too tall - and the 40mm one isn't a problem for me as the mirror overlaps the headlamp and loses very little vision the way that I sit in the car.

As Myles says it's a trade off this - with the mirror up on the 100mm stalk like mine is right now I find that there is a pretty big blind spot to the left in certain vision circumstances. I wouldn't recommend it to the honest.

I might have a play with trying a smaller mirror in the future as I think this might be the answer.

A lot depends on your height

I and I know of many that get a blind spot on lh corners with the short stem

The taller stem reduces this

Others go for an extremely tall centre mirror, which then need extra supports

Also, those with full cages often fix to the cage

You may get some ideas on the xtreme website from the club Oulton Park day

A10ROX:OK, its an R500 without the magnesium bits sump etc and only 205bhp!

I could never get happy with mine blocking the vision - problem solved when I fitted the cage and hung it from that. Not helpful if you haven't got a cage I realise! 😬
