Chaz23 Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 Is it safe to use on a 1993 1700 Xflow that has had the unleaded conversion? Will it do any harm or is it better to spend the extra 10p (or what ever it is) per litre? I have been reading shell's website and it does not really tell me.
Pezky Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 Ignition timing will need to be changed, if not already done, for Super Unleaded type fuels. Search in Techtalk for more info. Tried running my xflow on it, but could not feel any difference in performance. You would need a mapped/fuel injection system with "knock-sensing" to get full benefit. I usually use Tescos Super Unleaded (99octance?) in mine.
Neil_K Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 Unless you like cheapo additives, stay away from supermarket fuels. Much better to go for branded fuels backed up by years of R&D, even if it has a lower Octane.
