Is anyone able to give a rough idea how loud my Seven is likely to be? Basically, I need to find out if I will fall below a 95db limit.

It's a 2000, 1.8VVC with the single side-skin exit pipe (i.e. no external colelctor) and an interanal cat within the exhaust box. Any guesses? I've read somewhere that these single exit pipes are a bit pants. Is this true and is it worth upgrading it? (but still to stay within 95db!)

Cheers,

I think you'll struggle to stay reliably under 95db static.

My '01 1.6K was up to 100dB with the standard short primary + cat exhaust.

I don't know if 1.8 VVCs are noiser - I would assume so.

With long pimaries and a brand new big caterham silencer, it measured 94dB.

This will no doubt rise, and I'll have to look into making it repackable to do 98dB

track days.

Why do you need it THAT quiet?

No doubt someone with a powerspeed/techcraft will have other (lower) dB

figures.

Hi,

mine is a 2000 1.8 Supersport with the same system as yours but not vvc, it measured 98db static at Bedford recently.

cheers, John

Seems no one has mention at what revs we are talking about. If you're looking at trackdays then 95db is v. low.

I too have a meter but not going to Dunsfold, if anyone local wants to pick it up they can.

Steve, thanks. I'm also going to be at Baywatch on Sunday, so if you could put it in the back I'd be very grateful. I'll keep an eye out for you, I'm in Jag R. Green & yellow stripe with C7 plate (just to narrow it down!) 😬
